South of Carson City in Douglas County, the Carson Valley is a broad sweep of pasture and ranch land with the Sierra rising steeply along its western edge. Minden and Gardnerville have walkable main streets, local restaurants and a strong small-town feel, and historic Genoa, Nevada’s first settlement, sits at the foot of the mountains.
Homes range from established neighborhoods to newer subdivisions and properties with acreage. Kingsbury Grade climbs to Lake Tahoe’s south shore, and Carson City is about twenty minutes north.
